A portal of possibilities – Teesside Freeport

Freeports are special areas within the UK’s borders where different economic regulations apply, such as tax benefits and customs incentives on specific sites. Freeports grow the local economy and are hubs for global trade and investment.

Teesside Freeport is vast, covering approximately 4,500 acres. It provides a gateway to global markets via air, sea, rail and road. It enables Tees Valley to be a major export region and the go-to place for renewable, offshore wind and hydrogen manufacturing. The area is primed and ready for immediate development.

The Freeport is expected to support the area’s goal of becoming the first net zero cluster in the UK. As part of the Freeport, Teesworks boasts a £450 million investment from SeAH Wind. The UK has the second largest offshore wind market in the world, and is already home to four of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. This facility will top that, to become the biggest of its kind in the world.

Teesside Freeport will create more than 18,000 jobs and boost the local economy by billions. By spreading out the Freeport, maximum benefit can be gained for the people of the Tees Valley.
