Creating better journeys for business passengers – Peterborough station improvements

Nearly £48 million is being invested as part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund to regenerate the train station quarter around Peterborough rail station, which will include a new entrance and footbridge at the rail station.

Further improvements include:

a new western entrance with a car park, creating a double-sided station

– a new wider footbridge over the train lines which will alleviate pressure on city centre roads, making it easier and safer to travel around the city by bicycle. And it will support biodiverse green areas, community spaces and better connections to the city centre

– and funding for the station quarter, including improvements to Bourges Boulevard leading from the city centre to the station

The redevelopment of the station and the surrounding area will cut carbon emissions and make the city easier and safer to walk around, providing an enhanced passenger experience for travellers to the region while stimulating business and providing economic benefit to our city.
