Engineering new opportunities for small businesses – HiVE

High Value Engineering Centre (HiVE) will be a new engineering campus for 600 young people in South Wales, built using £9m of Levelling Up funding from the UK Government.

The funding will repurpose a redundant factory into a high-tech education and skills facility, and is part of the Welsh Government Tech Valleys Programme. The goal is to create a vibrant, world-class centre for Welsh-based manufacturing companies of all sizes. Spanning sectors which include digital, cyber, AI, robotics, and manufacturing, it will provide employment that is challenging, rewarding, and valued.

HiVE will be located in Ebbw Vale on the site of the former Monwell Hankinson Building on Letchworth Road. It will house classrooms, study areas and a range of workshop spaces, kitted out with state-of the-art robotics, and manufacturing equipment, and be available for use by both post-16 students and businesses taking on new technologies.
