Navigating businesses to new opportunities – Anglesey and Celtic Freeports  

Freeports are special areas within the UK’s borders where different economic regulations apply, such as tax and customs reliefs, business rates retention, and investment support.   

The Anglesey and Celtic Freeports will create new jobs and help businesses to grow, innovate, and trade with the world. Both Freeports will boost jobs and private investment in the area thanks to the tax and customs reliefs businesses located in Freeports will be able to access.  

Anglesey Freeport:  

Anglesey Freeport is a partnership between Isle of Anglesey Country Council and Stena Line, which will build on the strengths of Energy Island to continue to innovate and invest in sustainable technology .   

This will establish Anglesey as a leader in low carbon energy generation, research, and development.

Celtic Freeport  

Celtic Freeport is located in multiple sites around Port Talbot and Milford Haven.   

It is expected to support the creation of around 16,000 new, high-skilled jobs, generate significant inward investment, including £3.5 billion in the hydrogen industry, and accelerate the roll-out of floating offshore wind energy.
