Opening more doors for more businesses – Cornwall & Isles of Scilly UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is boosting productivity, raising living standards and helping to spread opportunities across local economies. The fund aims to support businesses in the area, increase private sector investment in growth and help local areas to fund gaps in skills.

The £132 million fund, of which £64 million will go towards business support, includes initiatives such as:

  • The development of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Good Growth Hub – focusing on green and socially responsible business support. 
 
  • Funding for business development through grants. 
 
  • Creation of the Research, Development and Innovation skills and business support programme. Built on a ‘Good Growth’ model, the focus is on elevating regional communities. Investments target businesses and activities that improve overall productivity.  
  • Liskeard Library has been transformed into a state-of-the-art public facility offering specialist tech facilities, co-working spaces and an activity and learning programme for the local community and businesses. 
 
  • Units on the site of the former Liskeard Cattle Market will be renovated to attract higher performing businesses to the area, increase footfall and help the local economy. A further UKSPF-funded project will refurbish c100sqm of existing underutilised units located directly off the Liskeard high street. This refurbishment will attract higher performing businesses to the area, increase footfall and help the local economy.
