A portal of possibilities – Thames Freeport & Freeport East

Freeports are special areas within the UK’s borders where different economic regulations apply, such as tax and customs reliefs, business rates retention and investment support.

Freeport East will attract international investment, drive domestic growth and create new jobs. Located across Felixstowe and Harwich, it will cover Britain’s busiest container port, two major ferry ports and sit near the East Coast green energy cluster. It is expected to generate £5.5 billion for the economy over 10 years.

Thames Freeport is an economic area connecting Ford’s world-class Dagenham engine plant to the global ports at London Gateway and Tilbury, with an emphasis on introducing electric and autonomous vehicle technology. The Freeport is aiming to leverage an estimated £4.3 billion of private investment.

Both Freeports will create jobs and private investment in the area thanks to the tax and customs reliefs businesses located in Freeports will be able to access.
